The columns were red
I have not previously seen these columns of the Auckland War Memorial Museum picked out in red. On at least one Anzac Day in the past I think it likely that red was used on the front of the Museum. This building is the War Memorial for Auckland, AND it houses the Auckland Museum.
Whether or not it was intentionally picked out in red because of the events in Gaza, that is what I see. There is no justification for attacking civilians who are without defences, and targetting life sustaining food and water.
The United States used its power of veto to be the only country to not support a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an "immediate, unconditional and permanent" cease fire. Coincidentally, Israeli attacks killed almost 100 Palestinians.
I take these red columns to represent a sense of horror from such actions by the Israel military, with an openly stated aim of eradicating the Palestinians
