A perfectly standard Butane regulator for Camping Gaz 907 cylinders. The problem is it's on a boat, and it's not marine rated.
Marine regulators need to have an over-pressure relief valve to ensure that in the event of a failure high pressure gas cannot overwhelm appliances and cause a build up of gas in the cabin, leading to risks of asphyxiation or explosion. They must also be built with materials that can withstand damp and salty environments. This is specified in ISO 10239 Annex M.
The boat has a current boat safety certificate, but the regulator must have been changed since the boat was inspected.
Time to go and get a marine grade regulator, mainly for safety but also to satisfy the insurers.
