Trichodes apiarius

The larvae of Trichodes apiarius  live predatorily in the nests of various solitary wild bees, primarily those that nest above ground. They are also rarely found in the hives of the European honey bee, where they feed on dead bees, pupae, and larvae.
The larvae penetrate the bees' brood cells, where they destroy the cell walls and consume their contents—pollen, eggs, and larvae—as food. Before pupation, the nest entrance is sealed with a fecal plug. The pupal dormancy can last more than a year; development from egg to adult takes three to five years.
In Germany, they are protected.

I felt much better after a good (still too short) sleep. Thanks for all your well wishes. I had a rather relaxed day with a long walk with my friend Anne and her dog Tico. Anne had her cancer board today and there are still a lot of questionmarks what the treatment will be, as it turns out that it seems to be a rather rare kind of cancer...
I also walked Sam and tried to get an emergency appointment at the dentist for Teba, who got toothache at work. Her friend L. called me and told me that she even lost a tooth, what wasn't true at all. She now is on an emergency list for next week, because her dentist is ill herself and I refuse to visit the spare dentist. He is a kind man, he was our dentist when the kids were little and all kids developed problems caused by not so perfect treatments. Tebas demage is smal and not too painfull, so I hope she'll make it to next week easily. She also had her weekly physiotherapy. You see, a relaxed day ;-)
