Down the Garden Path

In the neighborhood community garden there are a couple dozen plots that folks can rent on a yearly basis from the city. It’s a few blocks from our house, and I like to walk there and see what people have planted. There are various levels of decoration in addition to the vegetables. Some artists spend as much time on embellishment as they do on planting. The poles lining this walkway are made up of hollow small ceramic pieces, threaded on sticks. Someday I hope to meet the person who made this space and learn more about it. As many times as I’ve been through here, I have rarely seen a gardener, but crops definitely thrive, so people are working. We’re just not on the same schedule.
