Immature Little Blue Heron
The Little Blue Heron is quite prevalent here on the SW Coast of FL. This particular one is an immature bird morphing from a juvenile ( completely white ) to a full fledged adult with feathers that are an interesting shade of blue, except for a soft purple head and neck.
As we were walking in a different part of the park today, I wondered how large it was. I looked it up and learned it was 200 acres!! I'm not sure how acres are measured in other countries, but I tried and found that 200 acres = 0.809371 square km, or 80.9371 hectares. Bennett Park is much bigger than I thought it was!
It's always good to go for walk there and take some time out for seeing a bird or a beautiful sky. Taking my camera on these walks prompts me to notice things more. The fresh air and exercise is also a good way to clear my mind and help me stay present. It has been somewhat stressful regarding my mom who is in rehab after breaking her hip at age 90 and has other health issues as well. We are working with health professionals to find the best way to support mom.
