Mike Peters MBE
THURSDAY
I did a few jobs around the house today and spent an hour in the garden.
This evening, I headed over to nearby Dyserth for our "away" bowls match.
It was a tough one—Dyserth were relegated from a higher division and, judging by their current form, they’ll be aiming for promotion this year. We managed four winners out of ten games. As for my own game… I’d rather not talk about it—definitely one my worst results ever!
One of the local yarn bombers has put together an amazing creation, this time as a tribute to Mike Peters. The post box topper, which shows Mike playing his guitar on the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), sits on the post box near Peter Morgan Pharmacy in Dyserth—where Mike’s funeral was held last week. Mike, the frontman of The Alarm, was born in Prestatyn and lived in Dyserth.
Rachel Williamson, and her mum Thelma (aged 93) created the detailed tribute. Mike passed away from blood cancer on April 29, aged 66, and the topper honours his memory beautifully. It took them four days to make and includes lots of detail: Mike with his guitar on Snowdon, his MBE, and a Welsh dragon holding a plaque with “LHS” for his Love Hope Strength foundation.
