The Star Wars Boogie
On This Day In History
1933: World's first drive-in movie theatre opens
Quote Of The Day
"My favourite audience is everybody. I worked in a drive-in theatre from the time I was eight years old until I went to college, and I'm accustomed to everybody can buy a ticket and everybody should be taken into account."
(Twyla Tharp)
Today we had our school disco and the theme was Space, so of course I bought my lightsaber to school. After showing it to the class and giving them a chance to hold it, I asked them to pose for this photo for me. Voila! A bunch of Jedi Younglings weilding lightsabers as they watch the credits roll of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
My class must have told their parents that I would be bringing my lightsaber to school because as soon as the parents saw me they asked me where it was. I told them I didn't want to bring it the disco in case it got broken. But they were so persistent that I relented and then became the focus of attention on the dance floor.
Later, one of the parents said, "Thank you for showing me your big, shiny weapon." Thankfully no one heard that; the language barrier can make things a bit awkward sometimes.
