Sally Mair - Loving life

Honeysuckle

The honeysuckle has suddenly transformed into something wonderful. It was one of my mums favourites, when we were out walking as a family we would break off the flower tubes and suck the sweet nectar from the ends. I'd forgotten that.
today the tree surgeon came to remove the damaged branches and set hope the rest of the tree was. Sadly I wasn't there to take a picture of them up the tree with their ropes. The good news is that the rest of the tree seems OK. It was just a sycamore being a sycamore. We were always forbidden to climb them as children because they could be so brittle and mum worked about branches breaking. I had plenty of other trees to climb though. We've a broken gutter to replace and that seems to be all the damage until we have a close look. The crop of gooseberries the branch came down on appear to be OK, on the other hand the single solitary gooseberry on my gooseberry bush appears to have fallen victim to a predator. Life can be very cruel.
Colin got the grass cut today while I headed off to pick up the girls and bring them here for the afternoon. Isobel had her usual two hour dance class while Eilidh was going off to Guide Camp in Fife.
Hopefully I'll get some work done in the garden tomorrow if the weather holds. Our new Rector's references have all come in so we'll have an announcement on Sunday in both churches, current and ours.
