Waiting in Vain
Today has been totally dominated by waiting in vain for Len to have his operation at Leicester Royal Infirmary. Both Len and I are exhausted having had to get up before 5 am to reach the hospital in time. Ultimately, the surgeon came to see us to apologise because there was no bed for Len to stay in overnight. He was going to be given general anaesthetic. The anaesthetist wanted to monitor his progress overnight particularly because of his use of a CPap machine.
George was amazingly helpful in ferrying us from his house to the hospital and by looking after Basil in our absence.
Some lovely artwork on the walls, including this triptych outside Len's waiting cubicle.
I fell asleep when we got back home but it wasn't enough to recover.
We enjoyed a Domino's pizza each at George's having eaten nothing all morning. I at least had been able to drink coffee.
