Orchid Time

Another reminder of Alpine holidays where I  usually see lots of orchids, including dactylorhizas like these.   In my garden, in a trough actually, I have garden hybrids.   Plants that arose by seed in other people's gardens.   I live in hope that I will find seedlings appearing here too.   They need very little looking after, just watering in very dry spells, as I do for all the trough plants.

Another fairly quiet day getting a few jobs done at home, chores mostly.   I weeded out some annuals that have seeded too well in the raised beds to prevent further over-running.   After tea I spent an hour at pottery starting a couple of bowls which will have local place names on them, so are for the craft shop.   I also made a couple of plates which are for my kitchen.   All are at home for fettling when they've dried out a little.
