And Then There Were Three

Nature takes its course up at the loch.  Some other animal has fed - maybe their young too.  It is all a bit of a lottery who survives and who doesn't.

The nearby coot's nest is now just about hidden behind the growing horsetails but I was able to determine that the second clutch has hatched.  How many?  Hard to say with such obscured visibiity but I saw two for certain.

On the far side Of the loch, my telephoto lens was just able to pick out a great-crested grebe with a chick.  No way of knowing if it was the same family as before.  In the past, the loch has had as many as three pairs of those grebes at the same time.
