Allgäu

The Allgäu is in Swabia, in southern Germany. Swabia straddles two Länder; Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria, and a bit of Austria. It's a lovely area; rolling meadows with plenty of dairy cows, and the Alps rising in the south. It's where King Ludwig II built his castle opposite, Hohenschwangau, his dad's castle. Schloss Neuschwanstein became the model for Walt Disney's famous fairytale castle and logo. If you've not seen the original, I recommend it - it is breathtaking.

The other thing that the area is famous for, is that it's where George lives - but not in a castle. He sent me the card this week :-)
