It's always nice to be back home but I miss Madeira....

About the author:
"John Longstaff was born and brought up in Darlington. He was educated at Alderman Leach, Albert Road Secondary Modern and Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, where he was taught art by Lindsay Bird. He graduated from Teesside College of Art and Design in 1972 (graphic design and illustration).
After working for five years as Exhibitions Officer for Cleveland, he went freelance and since then he has earned his living as a cartoonist (pen-name Cluff) and artist. For many years he collaborated with Jack Duncan (writer) on various cartoon strips (Du Côte de Chez Smith in The Literary Review). Jack sold many of John’s cartoons through his galleries in York & London.
His cartoons have been published in a wide range of newspapers and magazines including: Private Eye, Punch, The Spectator, The Times, The Literary Review and The Independent magazine. He has produced a daily topical cartoon for The Northern Echo since 1990. Two of John’s Private Eye cartoons were featured in the 50th Anniversary Exhibition in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London (18th October 2011 – 8th January 2012), and one of these is a Private Eye card (2012). He has had cartoons exhibited at London’s Cartoon Gallery."
