Pictorial blethers

Jumping the gun just a little ...

Right. You can consume your soul in patience to find out what I mean by the title, and wait till I get there! I had a pleasantly leisurely start to this morning, doing my Italian in bed and reading The Early Line with my cereal when I eventually went down for a solitary breakfast, Himself being on A Mission to get to the church early enough to practise without anyone else turning up. I enjoyed a phone chat with #1 son, suffering from the morning chill as he watched his younger son play cricket - I can't help feeling he doesn't get as involved as a spectator as he does with football. After coffee (for which Himself returned) I spent some time uploading another day of Italian photos to Flickr while at the same time reminding Himself how it was done ...

Over lunch, I watched the closing session of the SEC Synod on my phone and felt proud of my church and the compassionate calmness of the debate. There have surely been changes, quietly or not-so-quietly, in people and in the institution and what was said was helpful even to someone peering at a phone over her salad...

And later we went out, into the sun that had just appeared, to walk up to church to let us rehearse the Communion piece for tomorrow. And that's where I'm jumping the gun a bit, because there were these glorious flower arrangements in Pentecostal colours and flame-shapes - we have some talented people in our congregation. I can't resist sharing them today, when there was no-one there to get in the way.

Just as I was making dinner, Himself called me to look at this huge cruise ship filling our bedroom window because of its relatively strange positioning extremely close to the shore off Kirn/Hunter's Quay (extra photo). It was the Royal Princess, she was moving slowly and strangely, and no-one on Facebook (where else?) seemed to know what was going on. There were apparently tugs in the offing ... However, when I looked later at my ship finder app, she was heading safely down the Firth - en route to Kirkwall, if Lady Findhorn happens to see this in time... I'm sure she'll be overjoyed.

And that was that, really. Some rapid family texts told us we'd missed a gig at the RCS  but were invited to lunch later this month; I didn't fall asleep at all, perhaps because of all the texts flying around; I came up to bed (well, to Blip!) reasonably early; it's now late because I had to go and look at the moon, which is a rather fabulous dull gold colour. But now ...

Bed.
