Ramblings and Mutterings

Devastation

Up at ridiculous o'clock to head to London for the Challenge Cup final at Wembley.

I arrived early so headed into Piccadilly Circus and had a good wander around Waterstones and didn't buy anything. Shock horror! I had plenty of ideas for new book purchases though. The reason I didn't buy anything was that there is a strict bag policy at Wembley so I wouldn't have been able to carry anything in with me.

Arrived at Wembley and had some lunch outside of the stadium. No way was I going to get caught again spending a fortune in Wembley.

I then headed into see the Women's Challenge Cup final. It was a great result for my team, Wigan Warriors, as they thrashed our closest rivals Saint Helens.

I was sat next to a couple from Skipton and was having a good chat, but after the women's cup final they left and never returned. I hope they were ok.

And then for the main event, Hull KR v Warrington. I was a bit worried that Hull KR were going to blow them away as they've been the best team in Super League this year, so I just wanted to see a good game. It wasn't a good game of running rugby, probably the weather hindered that, but it was a very close game and all down to small margins. Hull KR took the lead with a penalty, but just before half-time Warrington scored a try. To be fair they had risen their game for the final and were going at it with Hull KR. The second half saw Warrington continue to pressurise Hull KR and should have scored more points. As the game came to a close, Hull KR were desperate and a grubber kick saw Warrington make a mistake and Hull KR pounce to pull level. A touchline conversion from Mickey Lewis and they'd won it. Warrington were devastated and rightly so they were the better side on the day, but when you don't take the chances you run the risk.

I headed back to Paddington and brought my train forward. I did some reading and slept for a bit. We were 20 minutes getting back to Neath after we'd got caught behind a late running Transport for Wales train. So at least I can claim a delay repay. Lol!

As that couple left early in the cup final I've gone hours where I've not spoken to anyone. Whilst I'm comfortable being on my own it does sometimes hit you

Today I am thankful for:

1.  A good day at the Challenge Cup final
