Brass In The Afternoon
It was a bit of a rush, getting from a special church service, skipping the following lunch to nip across town to hear a brass band concert in our very own Lion Foundry bandstand in Saughton Gardens. But we met Miss Flum, having missed only half an hour, sat back in our picnic chairs and enjoyed the rest.
We heard a medley of James Bond themes, early '60's songs (which we could join in), some from 42nd street and other musical shows, Scottish songs...such a pleasing variety.
During the band's break we were entertained with songs from the Corstorphine Singers, beginning with early Beatles - definitely our era - and other well-known songs, all sung with great enthusiasm.
The programme finished at 3pm so we wandered back to the car, admiring borders of alliums contrasting with prettily pink roses as we passed, and all came home to a photo-fest and fish suppers.
