A Golden Bird Atop A Gilded Cage
Today's weather was again overcast tending towards the gloomy with squally showers so we only ventured as far as our local, The Chequers, for a spot of lunch. We still chose to sit outside on the terrace which although covered overhead was open to the elements from the side but there was something strangely enjoyable about being buffeted by the wind and drizzle as we ate our food and downed our pints!
The conditions had abated somewhat by the time we were making our way home again and I managed to capture today's image as we walked through the grounds of our local restaurant, The Hengist, where each outside table has its own gilded birdcage with golden bird atop and a little vase of flowers. I decided on a viewpoint where it appears that the cage is emerging from the flowers and you can even see the remnants of a spider's web.
Of course I should have tried to find a bird in a gilded cage and not atop one but this was the closest I could get! :-)
