Under the poppies

We cut back a bush that was being knocked by box blight but that had also got too big.  It is thriving after it’s savage treatment but all the earth around it has burst into a bloom of poppies, the opium poppy and the more common hairy stemmed one (I’m going to have to look that up). It’s rather lovely from down here.

We had that rare thing, a quiet day at home together and did a lot of pottering and clearing up and preparing for the onslaught.  I did a good walk in the morning and then hung around the house and garden as the sun came out and warmed us up.  I spent the afternoon gardening and then tried on outfits for the wedding and paraded them in front of Vikram who was genuinely enthusiastic!
He cooked a lovely meal of rice, lamb and asparagus and we watched two eps of Department Q which is fun.  Early night!
