Safe ground

On part of  this evening's dog walk, I wandered around the cemetery at our village church. 
What should be lurking behind one of the hedges but this old safe. 
There was no one around to ask what it's doing there but I expect someone knows the story behind it. 
At least it won't get pinched - it must weigh a ton!
