I wish!
Almost every time I’m in the city centre, something unexpected happens. Yesterday was no exception.
I spent the day with Homeless Project Scotland, photographing their new volunteer driver as he collected food donations from some incredibly generous businesses around Glasgow.
During a quick break outside the homeless shelter on Glassford Street, I caught a glimpse of this man walking by with a cardboard sign. The message was powerful, but he moved so quickly I almost missed it.
Later, on Buchanan Street, I saw him again. We started talking, and I shared how much his message resonated with me, especially given my own struggles. I wanted to encourage him to keep doing this, but it turns out, he didn’t need it. He’s already on a mission to use his own experiences to support others.
Everyone I met yesterday had a story. None of them were easy to hear. But through it all, they still had hope. That takes real strength, more than I'll ever have, that's for sure.
You might not know this but, on average 19 people commit suicide every day in the U.K. and 75% of them are men.
He knows this and he plans to do something about it!
