Waterfalls

It rained heavily yesterday and overnight, and MrM suggested that today might be a good time to do the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, and indeed it was. We set off for Ingleton mid-morning, and stopped en route in Settle for a late lunch. Most of the cafés were full to the rafters so we went to the café in the bike shop, which was excellent. Proper home-made soup. MrM couldn't help glancing at the electric bikes as we walked through!

The trail is about 4.5 miles long and quite strenuous (more strenuous than I'd anticipated anyway), but a really lovely walk through oak woodland, and over moorland, with six amazing waterfalls along the way. The one in the main Blip is Thornton Force, and the extra Beezley Falls - I wish you could hear the water crashing down over the rocks! They recommend allowing 2.5 hours to do the trail; it took us about 3 hours with numerous stops for photos.

We've been put off doing the trail when we've passed by on previous occasions by the admission charge (currently £11 per adult), but having done it, it was worth every penny. The path is well-defined, and though sections are uneven and slippery (as you'd expect on such a walk) care has been taken to make it as safe as possible, with well-maintained fences and good signage, so there's little danger of straying on to unsafe areas.

A good day out!
