The Gaurdians of the poor of the halifax union

i found this stone although damaged reads "The Guardians of the poor of the halifax union" outside Bankfield Musuem in Halifax .
It was originally part of a poor house building used to provide food and shelter for the poor of halifax after parliment brought into protect the poor in 1834 the union lasted for 93 years until local goverments took over
