Bee Mimic
I thought more practise of the techniques covered on my workshop last week was needed, so headed over the Sheepleas in search of more orchids and the like.
One of my first, and totally unexpected, finds was a magnificent specimen of a bee orchid. A focus stack of 20 images resulted in the image in extras.
There were numerous common spotted orchids to be found, and one was nicely positioned for its portrait. However, looking closer I spotted an insect, which Mr Google's Lens confirmed to be a dark-edged bee fly. So I got in closer and another focus stack gave me this image. The fly stayed still throughout but was alive as it waved its antenna at me as I moved!
