Dutch tales

Museum

Today I visited a town in the North-West of Holland, a nearly 75 minute drive from home. I met up with some friends to see a museum, a steam engine museum. One of my friends volunteers at the museum as a technician and a guide.

We assembled at the museum, had our coffees and went on for a walk through town. In town some of us visited a castle, while the rest waited outdoors. The castle was very small, more a kind of stronghold, made for defence rather than living quarters. Small, but fun to see. It looked very well maintained.

In town we also saw a steam train. It had just arrived at it's station and waited a while for all the people to get off board and the next load to get on board, which gave us opportunity to walk in and around the train. Very cool!

When we came back to the steam engine museum the machines were up and running, so our friend demonstrated one of the machines, which was very interesting.

Another fun filled day in good weather. It's so much fun to be a tourist in one's own country!
