First Impressions: Printers’ Proofs of Works by Great 20th Century Artists, Victoria Art Gallery, Bath

"Featuring works by leading figures such as Lucian Freud, Frank Auerbach, Bridget Riley, and Peter Blake, First Impressions showcases dozens of printers’ proofs — the experimental stages of the printmaking process that are rarely seen by the public. These works reveal the trial-and-error journey behind some of the most iconic prints of modern art, highlighting the expert craftsmanship of the printers who collaborate closely with artists."

Chambord by John Piper, A Map of Days by Grayson Perry, and Andre Champagne by Howard Kanovitz

Into Bath this morning for a guided tour of the exhibition, organised by Bath Carers Centre. This exhibition was probably my least favourite of all the ones I've seen at the gallery but the above photos are the three prints that caught my eye. After a look around the gallery we then went upstairs for a charcoal and ink workshop. Presented with a variety of greenery to draw, I felt completely out of my depth, unlike the rest of the group, so instead I just doodled and drew my biscuit! In extras, a flying Bourbon!!

Didn't bother to hang around in Bath, as I'd previously planned. Instead K popped round for a quick catchup and I caught up on some DIY, ending up with super glue all over my hands! Thankfully nail varnish remover and a pumice stone solved the problem. The most beautiful start to the day but when I left the gallery at midday the sky had completely clouded over, a muggy 23 degrees. The sun has now reappeared this evening but we're forecast a night of thunderstorms with a yellow weather warning for heavy rain.

Total bus Journey time = 46mins

Thank you for your kind stars for yesterday's Blue Tit family.
