Brothers
These two guys are interesting. They are My Girl's twin boys born last spring - but one of them is much bigger than the other. The little one is much bolder than the big one. I suppose it's possible for a pair of twins to be so mismatched in size, but it's also possible that one of them was an orphan early on who glommed onto My Girl as an adoptive mother, but is smaller because of having received less nutrition at some point. Hard to say. We once had a doe I called Annie because she was orphaned fairly young and she remained smaller than her peers. She used to follow the other deer around, but wasn't actually adopted by anyone. She was old enough to be weaned, but would have been bigger if she'd been nursing a bit longer. Anyhoo. This pair of brothers intrigues me. The little one is the most demanding of peanuts - his timid brother waits for me to go back in the house before he joins in the eating.
The pair of them - and their parent - are busily eating every single daylily bud that appears. There will be very little blooming around here this summer. I saw today that they have also eaten the buds off the comfrey. Sigh.
At least the yuccas are blooming!
