A bits and bobs day

I didn’t sleep well last night because of a distant barking dog (until dawn), so it’s been a day of searching for energy. It’s also been a day of heavy rain although the skies have cleared this evening and the sun is shining brightly.

It seemed a good day to bake a couple of loaves of wholemeal bread and make a batch of thick garlicky hummus. I also walked to the allotment to drop off some deer fencing from which I want to make a large circular container. Whilst there I picked another kilo of strawberries which are now waiting to be converted into jam. I sowed red cabbage, kale and swede seeds today too.

It felt humid as we walked Merlin this afternoon so we kept our meandering shorter than usual and instead took him for a dip in the stream. He seems to like the cool relaxing environment of the stream so much that he always has to be encouraged to leave.
