Ride
This morning, after walking Django, I finished the first draft of my talk for next week and the week after, and did a bit more Workshop admi - and two lots of washing.
It was another lovely day, so I took daughter K's crappy bike out for a whiz. I've managed to fix the handlebars in the right place, but the brakes barely grip, particularly on the front! First I called in at Valleyfield Pond, where two kingfishers were posing (see extra) and then flitting about. One of them caught a wee fish, too. The phone photo is poor, but it shows how they are so visible, perched on the barrier at the edge of the water. From there I continued along the old railway to Rosewell and Bonnyrigg, and then back via Lasswade, Loanhead and Roslin. On leaving Lasswade, I had to walk down the steep vennel to the Esk because the brakes wouldn't hold enough, and on the way back up from the river I called in at the old kirk (pictured). I always like visiting, as it's an appealing jumble of semi-ruined and overgrown architecture.
I got home just in time to walk Django before the time I'd said I'd be in for the woman who will feed Kermit to collect a set of keys. Now she's been I can relax, until I go out to take some furniture to the storage unit and then collect A from the airport.
