Rolls Royce in the Champagne Region
Our penultimate journey on D and N roads in France took us out of the Burgundy region up through very rural France to just north of Reims in the Champagne region. We stopped in a small town at a local bar for petit déjeuner which consisted of baguettes, croissants, orange juice and coffee for 6 euros each and enough bread to make our sandwiches later.
Unfortunately we discovered the 12v fridge was not working when we’re driving and so every stop we switched to gas to keep it cool and I will have an interesting job taking the PCB apart to change the fuse when I can buy some replacements in the UK. We stopped at a very pleasant site with an indoor swimming pool that gave us a welcome respite from the hot sun, which really caused L to overheat. We managed to cook up some Toulouse sausages and veggies for dinner and then when the sun went down the temperature dropped dramatically. Had a pleasant conversation with Rod and Sarah who wanted to know everything about our trip to Italy as they plan to do a month’s tour in September. Now it’s time for a shower and bed before we strike out for Calais in the morning and our burrowing trip back to Blighty. The cooler weather will be welcome.
