Bride and Groom

First full Florida day.  It’s safe to say it’s a new experience.  We had picked up a lot of breakfast food from WholeFoods the night before and so dived into fruit and yoghurt first thing.

Headed off to have a blow dry for the party weekend and then met up with V and Hannah and Alexander who had just arrived on a red eye from San Francisco for a coffee.

The outskirts of Palm Beach seems to just be mall on mall.  Called things like Downtown Palm Garden or Palm Beach Mall intercepted by freeways and palm trees.  It is pretty soulless although it’s green and there are waterways alongside the roads apparently full of manatees.  I want to see a manatee.  Typical American day where I do hardly any steps and start feeling like one of the blobby people in Wall-E.  Did a quick pit stop in Sephora to pick up some things I’d forgotten and some more salads from Whole Foods and then we all had lunch together.   The others napped but I sat on the porch, the mosquitoes had gone,  and so it was pleasant in the shade although steamy hot in the sun.  I read my book (actual book as it’s not on kindle) and Merlin told me I was listening to a Northern Mockingbird and a Cardinal bird and the mock orange smell filled the little garden.

Showered again  and dressed for event number one, a rehearsal dinner for 80 (!) mainly relations where there were several speeches and a slide show.  The groom wore this pink floral suit from a London tailor which was actually rather elegant and Gatsby esque.  Francesca wore a white mini dress with white nails. Lord knows how they are going to upscale their outfits for the actual wedding.
