Robin Redbreast

A bit of an experiment today, after recalling a video I saw some time ago about black and white animal portraits set on all black backgrounds.

A robin landed quite close to me as I photographed a peony, which gave me a lot of detail in the bird to exploit. I didn't go for a totally black background in the end, preferring to keep some of the grass texture.

I think my effort worked out well, but the treatment seemed to suit the more serious orangutan subject of the video. A cheerful red breasted robin, maybe not so much?
