Kitchen Confidential
What a book!
Over the years I've enjoyed watching TV series' of Anthony Bourdain's culinary experiences and travels. The first 15 years of my working life were spent working in a catering environment, so I get a lot of what he was speaking about. This is the first book of his I've read, in fact, I hadn't realised how many books he'd actually written. This one was a no-holds barred tell-all of some of his experiences which led him to becoming a chef and ending up at his famous Les Halles.
This book took me ages to read. Not because I didn't find it interesting...it was because I wanted to absorb it, try to get into his head and understand the narrative.
Normally, after I've read a book, it goes to one of the street-side library boxes, or taken to a second-hand shop. Few make it back onto my shelves for keeping, maybe to read again but probably not. Some books you enjoy so much that you don't want to part with it. This one's staying!
