Flower Friday ...
... Hibiscus and friend.
When I came down to the sunroom this morning I found that another of our overwintered Eastern Black Swallowtail butterflies had emerged. This makes fifteen total ... including the eight that our neighbor released for us whilst we were away in early May. And we have three more chrysalids in the butterfly enclosure left to emerge. Not only did I find this lovely butterfly but I also found that we had three hibiscus flowers open up since yesterday. The perfect place to release this beautiful swallowtail.
Thanks to Anni for hosting Flower Friday each week.
In other news: I had read recently on a birding Facebook group that there has been sightings of a Bobolink locally. Someone in the group very kindly included two different locations where they were seen. These birds are rare to our area this time of year and I was excited about possibly seeing some. After lunch we went to Heintzelman Park as that was one of the locations. Well ... we didn't see any Bobolinks but we did see a lot of dragonflies around the small pond. I've added a collage in Extras of two different dragonflies ... plus a six-spotted fishing spider with another dragonfly. The top picture is a Blue Dasher and the bottom right shows a Common Whitetail Dragonfly.
Even though we didn't see the Bobolink we still had a great day out. After leaving this park we went to Jacobsburg State Park for a longer walk.
