Thurso harbour
** I posted this on Friday night, or so I thought, only this morning found it was not there so starting again!
We left home at 2.15pm and drove north to Thurso, the northernmost town on the island of Great Britain. It took 7 hours including a toilet stop, a petrol stop, a sit down fish supper stop at La Mirage in Helmsdale and an emergency blip stop at the harbour before checking into the hotel and going to bed.
My husband says this is his first visit to Thurso as a tourist. His family moved here when he was 13 and his parents were still here till they died, his mother in 2021 and his father a few years before. His youngest brother lived here until two years ago when he moved south to Inverness and then, last year to Spain. So, no family here anymore but good to be back. The weather forecast for the weekend is pretty bad, with plenty of rain but we are heading off out early to make the most of the day before it starts.
