Water Lily Damsels
For Flower Friday, there’s nothing better than a walk around Bodnant - especially on a beautiful morning like this.
The champions of spring flowering - the azaleas, rhododendrons and magnolias - are now largely finished, and the magnificent gold of the laburnum arch is now simply green, but the summer bedding is now coming into its own. Bodnant is certainly a garden for all seasons.
I’m hoping to catch sight of the emperors flying over the lily ponds, but they are sadly absent - as indeed are butterflies - so I have to content myself with a few damselflies. They’re mostly blues landing on lily pads, but a pair of reds (large reds I think…..) are considerate enough to settle on a deep pink water lily.
Of course, I take far too many photographs, so there’s a collage of Bodnant flora in extras.
