Lavender Feast
The lure of a sunny day and a new exhibition featuring hedges in photographs had me heading to RHS Wisley.
I began my day by walking up through the pinetum to the small cafe at the far end of the garden which is normally quiet (as it was today) and grabbing a cup of coffee before settling down for an hour or so drawing an adjacent gardener's shed. I then took a slow meander along the river and back to the main garden.
It was getting hotter and hotter, but the butterflies were loving the lavender on the old "apple mound" viewing point, to give me my Flower Friday shot of the day.
I eventually made it to the old laboratory and the small, but interesting, exhibition. I even spotted a shot of hedges in the form of heraldic beasts from Hall Place in Bexley; a favourite spot from my childhood.
By now the heat and humidity were getting a bit too much, but all in all it was a good day.
