Defending Recycling

I went on a random motorbike ride today and spotted this wwII pillbox, now used for storage and machinery by the Canal and River Trust.

Apparently some 28,000 of these defensive shelters were built along 'stop lines' in the uk, intended to secure strategic areas un the case of an invasion. Over 6,500 remain, and this one certainly looks sturdy, even though it's original use has passed.

This one is on the towpath of the Kennet and Avon canal at Tyle Mill.

Thanks for hosting, Marlieske
