The price to pay
On a day when the leader of the US is throwing himself a gratuitous military parade, I visited a touching monument that honors those special forces who lost their lives in service of their country: the Commandos. The monument consists of a statue (see extra) and a memorial garden (from which the main pic was taken).
Earlier in the day, we saw an 8-step system of locks; went to Glenfinnan where we took a short cruise down Loch Shiel, saw the aqueduc over which Harry Potter’s train drove, as well as a monument marking the highlanders who swore allegiance to Charles Stuart, before his failed 1745 campaign to take the British throne.(see extras). Long day; I’m tired!
