An Evening of Kulchur
Late posting tonight as I'm just home after a splendid evening with D#1 at the BBC Radio Scotland Young Classical Musician Award 2025 in the City Halls, Glasgow.
Three very talented musicians - a violinist, a saxophonist and an accordionist - played three very different concertos.
While the panel of judges was considering its verdict, the Scottish Symphony Orchestra entertained us with Tchaikovsky's Overture to 'Romeo and Juliet', which was my favourite part of the whole evening.
The accordionist, Sofia Ros, was declared the winner, but I'm sure it was a difficult decision for the judges, as all three pieces were very different and all three musicians deserving of the title.
