Inside the Dunlop Bridge

The main photo was taken inside the Dunlop Bridge, an iconic feature of the Le Mans circuit, a couple of hours after the 24 hour race had got under way. It is used by race goers to cross the track, there being lots of shops,  displays  and places to eat and drink in the inner part of the circuit. Not that there aren't loads of bars and food outlets on the outer part. And a great new feature this year is a 'fan zone' as we enter the circuit from the Panorama car park. It had various strenuous looking attractions, such as climbing walls, but we preferred to get beers to have with the salad lunch boxes we bought at the Super-U on our journey to the circuit. One of the extras shows the exterior of the Dunlop Bridge. The blue smoke is the remnant of the tricolor flares that signalled the race was about to start, flagged off by Roger Federer. The second extra is a shot from a screen in another fan area - I suspect quite a lot of people prefer to watch the race this way rather than jostling for a viewing position in the crowd. We left to return to the gite around 10.30pm. Racing in the dark through the night is certainly atmospheric but we're past the time when we would try to stay awake all night. We'll be back in our seats around midday tomorrow. "Stuff" usually happens during the night so, after a fairly uneventful opening  few hours, we'll see what's changed when we tune in to Radio Le Mans in the morning. I know of at least two blippers who are also here which makes me think there should be some blipfoto insignia we could wear to recognise a fellow blippet.
