Cumulonimbus clouds
When walking out the door and down our street tonight, look what greeted us. Steve knew it was a cumulonimbus cloud. Say that three times fast!
Cumulus clouds are more familiar to me. Those are the soft, fluffy, cotton ball ones. This one wasn't and so I looked cumulonimbus up. It's a much larger and more dramatic cloud formation.
Cumulonimbus storm cells can produce severe weather; torrential rain, flash flooding and thunderstorms and the like. This is the season here for it too. We've had a number of thunder and lightning storms recently, typical for this time of year in Florida. It's actually good, because of the draught we've been experiencing.
Anyway, it's a monster! See the extra to get a sense of what it looked like when I first saw it from farther away. Hmmm, I hear thunder rumblings again...
