Peninsula Light

By PeninsulaLight

Cycle headlight bracket - the lower right parts sheared off on the cycle to work this morning, after the bike hit a minor bump, sending the headlight bouncing down the road. Minor damage but the light still works. Made up a temporary replacement with two salvaged sheet layers of aluminium and a third plastic layer, that were bolted to the (thought to be) undamaged part of the bracket. This allowed the light to slide on to the mount fairly tightly due to a slight bow in the sheet layers, and to be sure it didn't come off, the junction of a black cable tie was rotated around after the light was slid into place.

Great, or so I thought. It worked for the journey home and for the journey to work the following day. What I didn't notice, is very obvious in the above photo. The underside of the handlebar clamp ring has a big split in it, and this part broke as I took off the light off at work the next morning (i.e. tomorrow - this is as ever, a back-Blip).
