Bruce

Bruce’s condition deteriorated dreadfully over Friday night and Saturday morning and now he has passed away. M has been incredibly brave making him feel loved to the very end.
Following the news of his diagnosis late July we were advised he might enjoy life for several more months. We should maybe be thankful that he was back to his nonsense and walks even if for a short couple of weeks,
Everyone’s pet is special to them and of course I am saying the same here; a unique combination of affection, mischief and a love of the great outdoors. He was never the high jump athlete, he always needed lifted in to the car (though I think he could if had really wanted), yet could walk tirelessly in the mountains for a long day and have swims in icy lochans along the way.
Memories of family holidays are dominated by recollections of Bruce on walks in lovely places all over Scotland; beaches and hills on Harris, Wester Ross, Sutherland, the Cairngorms and of course our own doorstep wilderness in Lochaber.

Young Caley (and he is also unique and special to us) came in to his home less than three years ago and he was very gentle and playful with the young rascal and they have always got on very well.
Just eight and a bit, Bruce came to us when our boys L and S were 6 and 4 years of age and I doubt if they can remember a life before Bruce. In truth I can’t right now.
His loss is crushing and painful. We will miss him so much.
