The best souvenirs

... are food souvenirs! My haul: two different kinds of honey, a jar of artichokes preserved in oil, the famous guanciale, some tegole (thin hazelnut biscuits given to us as a gift by the Hotel Diana), and, of course, a bag of dried porcini. You can get these in France, but these are really good quality. They will probably all be consumed in fairly short order. Vicki gave us some expensive Italian chocolates that she bought in Paris, but they have all been scoffed already.

It was a hot day -- I started trawling through my Italian photos, transferring them to the computer and deleting the duds. It's a laborious process, so I keep taking a rest from it. S made his signature salade paysanne for lunch, featuring crisp guanciale instead of bog-standard bacon. It was very good, and low on carbs, unlike yesterday. Just a few nibbles and some wine in the evening. Catching up slowly ...
