London Day Six
Another full-on day, out and about, making good use of the Citymapper app. (11,684 steps!)
JR wanted to go to Marylebone High Street, so we went first thing this morning. In the afternoon we went to Borough Market… NOT such a good idea. Perhaps we should have done them the other way round. Most shops didn’t open till 11am, and the Market was even MORE mobbed than normal!
Marylebone was a lovely area. Even I could appreciate that there were very nice shops. But I found a nice pub to sit in, with nice music, and read the Sunday papers, while JR explored. I did go and look in the marvellous bookshop.
From there we headed over to Tower Bridge. I wanted to view some iconic London sights. Only I searched for London Bridge, and so got the wrong one. Never mind, I saw it away in the distance.
After we gave up on Borough Market (couldn’t find the huge chocolate strawberries) we walked along the riverside, passing the Globe Theatre (I’m sure we could walk in for a look last time, but gates were shut). Had to pop in to the Tate Modern, it’s so spectacular. The big spider that was there last time was still there. We walked across the bridge to St Paul’s. A London must-do.
Bus right back to Kings Cross, and we popped in for a drink to the Booking Office. Fabulous place. As we sat there, I noticed lots of little cocktail glasses lined up on a big central table. Then I realised what it was - I’d seen it on Instagram! Free cocktails at 5.05pm every day! So that was an unexpected treat!
Another great day in London!
But home tomorrow, exhausted!
