Scenic Scrabble

We managed to squeeze out an extra half day of holiday this morning with a game of scenic Scrabble in the conservatory and a final round of table tennis with Richard and Jo in the old dining room.

It's always hard to leave Baile-na-Cille, but especially so on a day as beautiful as this. However, at 12:30 we headed for Stornoway (passing a stream of motorbikes taking part in the Midge Biters annual rally), a perusal of the charity shops, a quick cup of coffee/tea at An Lanntair, a dash into the shop on the harbour that promotes the 'Shame on you Donald John' campaign (extra), a ride on the 15:30 ferry, and the long drive back from Ullapool to Edinburgh. The further south we drove, the worse the weather.

Not far out of Ullapool a couple of police vehicles passed us at great speed, as did some unmarked cars. We saw them again soon afterwards, gathered in the car park where we stopped for our biddy picnic ten days ago. We later learnt that there had been a fatality at Rogie Falls.

After our long drive, we were very glad to reach home - and our first bath since 3rd June

Exercise today: small amount of walking (7,975 steps).
