Renovations

Off on another short break to Co. Durham. As a nice wee lunch stop we visited Lowther Castle just outside Penrith. Definitely to be recommended. The castle is a ruin but a Trust have taken on a 20 year project to restore the gardens with the help of a Chelsea prize winning designer. They are beautiful and we will definitely be back to see progress in a year or two.

There was building work going on, on the actual castle structure to replace a pinnacle which had fallen off some years ago. 

Yet another excellent cafe too.

Now happily settled in our wee cottage watching the swallows around us.
