This is the day

Better late than never ...

This morning I had the urge to shampoo the rug in our family room. It looked so much better for my ministrations that it prompted me to continue using the Vax on the hall carpet as well! When I’d finished I dried off the rug out in the sunshine on the clothes airer and opened the hall windows to speed up the drying progress of the carpet in the hall. It looked, and smelled, lovely and clean.

Having not only cleaned the carpets but also done a lot of dead heading of roses straight after breakfast, I then gave myself permission to have a bit of time to myself this afternoon. I started on a project I’ve been wanting to do for ages – I fancy making myself a summer dress, but haven’t been able to get a pattern that I really like. In desperation this afternoon I looked online and found this dress pattern on Etsy. It was almost exactly what I was after, but there was one drawback. It came in PDF form, and I’ve never bought one of those before.

Undaunted, I decided to give it a go. So I have now printed off 45 pages of A4, which will all need to be trimmed and stuck together, then the pattern pieces cut out. The beauty of this method over the traditional printed paper pattern is that I was able to turn off on the PDF all the sizes except for my size (via the layers panel) so it will be much simpler to cut out just one pattern size.

I do believe I may soon be actually cutting out the piece of summer dress fabric that I bought way back in April 2022!
