Pont du Gard
A beautifully preserved first century AD Roman aqueduct bridge over the river Gardon. It’s a few hundred metres up the river from where we are staying on our campsite. We cycled there this morning . It looked stunning in the bright sunshine.
We continued on to the town of Uzès.. There was a very good Greenway to cycle along and it would have been even better if it had been clearly marked. We were told it was well signposted. It wasn’t.
Anyway Uzès was a wonderful place , and we had a delicious lunch at a pavement restaurant in the shade of big plane trees. We had a dip in the swimming pool when we got back, and later took our chairs and a drink to sit by the river this evening, for a bit of relaxation.
