The Human Mythos

On This Day In History
1972: Watergate burglars arrested

Quote Of The Day
"Until we have a better relationship between private performance and the public truth, as was demonstrated with Watergate, we as the public are absolutely right to remain suspicious, contemptuous even, of the secrecy and the misinformation which is the digest of our news."
(John le Carre)

Bonus Quote Of The Day
“The most merciful thing in the world, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far.”
(H.P. Lovecraft, The Call Of Cthulhu)

Pity we hapless human fools who continue to delude ourselves that we are the ones in charge of our species' destiny. A single human cannot even take command of its own life, let alone dictate the course of 8.2 billion. Perhaps the only control we have is in the manner of our own demise, and we rarely even have control of that.

"In the name of the great old one, O mighty Cthulhu, Ancient One of the Abyss, He who slumbers beneath the waves, Awaken to the call of your devoted followers."
